After School Program (ASP)

We are pleased to announce our After School Program (ASP) which will be offered Monday - Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Because our program will be managed internally, we can ensure that the instruction in virtue and character that our students receive during the school day will continue seamlessly in aftercare. Some members of our ASP staff will also serve on the school staff during the regular school day. This will allow us to know our students and families even better.

Part-time planned (1 - 4 days per week): $18/day

How to Register:

1). Families should first register via MyPaymentsPlus. (MPP), our registration and billing platform, using the button below. Even if you are not enrolled in ASP, this will be the payment platform for field trips, clubs and sports groups, so it’s good to get it set up now. For instructions in English, click here. Para instrucciones en español, haga clic aquí.

2). Parents/Guardians are required to register for an account for each of their children before utilizing ASP services. You may not use this service often, or ever, but registering now will mean it is setup in case you ever need it. Additionally, registering in case of an emergency where you are unable to get to the school, will allow ASP leaders to already aware of allergy information or any other medical information, should they ever need to go to ASP. You will not be billed until the service is planned/scheduled or a drop-in service is required.

Billing: When enrolling a student in the ASP program, the parent/guardian will select an enrollment level of full-time or part-time, and the specific number of days or days of the week a part time student will participate. Based on enrollment level selected, families will be billed for planned services at the beginning of each month based on the number of active days in the month. Any additional charges, including for drop-in days and late payment or pickup fees, will be billed at the end of the month. Refunds and/or credits will not be applied to future months if a student is absent or misses a pre-paid day of ASP.

Cancellation and Changes: We understand life can happen and we want to work with you, so please communicate with us early for any changes. Any changes related to full cancellation of services, full-time/part-time status, the amount of part-time days, or the specific day(s) of the week that a part-time student will attend must be communicated to the ASP team, in writing, by the 15th of each month in order to go into effect the following month. Changes submitted after the 15th will result in the changes being reflected in the month after next.

Payment: Invoices and payments for ASP services will be facilitated through MyPaymentsPlus. Parents/Guardians are required to register for an account for each of their children before utilizing ASP services. For families who have been approved for financial assistance, a discount will be automatically applied to your ASP invoice. Payment is due in full by the 15th of each month. Late payments will incur a flat $25 charge. Further information on ASP Billing Policies can be found in the ASP Agreement or in the ASP Billing Policies question in the FAQs below.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • ASP Policies

Absent Student Notification: If your student is enrolled full-time or part-time you must let us know if they will be absent. Please send communication by email to your student’s homeroom teacher and the ASP staff at  afterschool@cherokeeclassicalacademy.org as soon as possible.

Appropriate Behavior: ASP is a continuation of our school day, and our students are to continue demonstrating proper behavior during ASP. All students attending ASP will be subject to the CCA Code of Conduct. The safety and interests of your student are our primary concern. ASP staff will use positive reinforcement and guidance techniques for desired behaviors. If any student has frequent behavior problems that are deemed unsafe or inappropriate, the ASP Director will communicate this with the parents. Behavior not improved upon after three written communications will result in a one week probationary period. If these behaviors continue, the student may be dismissed from the program. The School reserves the right to dismiss without prior incident if other children or staff are put at risk.

Attendance: All students must be registered with ASP by completing the ASP enrollment application. Paperwork must be completed and fees paid. Registered students are eligible to attend ASP on any school day.  Students who appear to be ill or have a fever may not attend or remain at ASP and must be picked up promptly.

Cell Phones: No cell phone use is allowed when picking up your student. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Students are not permitted to use cell phones in ASP.

Child Abuse: The ASP team’s primary concern is the safety and well-being of the students. All CCA employees, including ASP staff, are mandated reporters and will follow all applicable federal and state laws concerning the responsibilities of a mandated reporter.

Conflict Resolution: Students enrolled in ASP will experience situations with other students of various grade levels who attend CCA. Anytime there is a conflict (physical, verbal, or otherwise) we will take steps to rectify the situation as best we can. Every situation is different and we will use a variety of conflict resolution tools such as redirection, peer resolution, discussion, parent meetings, and removal of ASP privileges. At no time may a parent approach or speak to another student. ASP staff will not disclose the disciplinary actions of another student with anyone except the parent/guardian of that student.

Date & Times: ASP is open on regular school days from 3:25 pm–6:30pm when school is in session. On early dismissal days, ASP will not be available. ASP is closed when school is out for scheduled days off, observed holidays, or closures due to inclement weather.

Drop-Ins: Any student not picked up by the end of afternoon carline (3:25pm) will be taken to ASP and charged the drop-in rate.

Electronics and Personal Items: There are no electronics allowed. Any toys or personal items brought to ASP are not the responsibility of ASP or CCA staff.

Emails: We limit our emails but you will receive them for billing, program updates, and emergency communication. Parents are responsible for reviewing and knowing the information communicated by ASP via email.

First Day: Once you have registered your child online please make sure you have emailed the ASP staff at afterschool@cherokeeclassicalacademy.org and your child's homeroom teacher of the exact start date.

Homework: On most days, students will be given time in ASP to work on homework. While ASP staff will attempt to assist students in completing their assignments, the student and parent/guardian is ultimately responsible for the completion and checking over of homework. ASP staff will not provide tutoring services.

Illness and Communicable Disease: Attendance of an ill student with communicable disease such as conjunctivitis (pink eye), head lice, scabies, ring worm, chicken pox, diarrhea, fever, etc. will not be permitted. Parents will receive written notification if a communicable disease has been introduced into the program population. It is the parent’s responsibility to notify ASP of any communicable disease their student has that other students may have been exposed to.

Late Pick Up: Students must be picked up no later than 6:30pm according to the CCA ASP clock. If a child is not picked up by 7:30pm DFACS will be notified. Late pickup fees will be added to the end-of-month billing cycle as follows:

    • 2nd-4th occurrences: $15 flat fee + $1/minute rate

    • 5th occurrence: $30 flat fee + $1/minute rate

If a student is picked up late more than five (5) times in the school year, the student will no longer be eligible to attend ASP for a set period of time, up to the remainder of the current school year, as determined by ASP and CCA staff.

If a student is picked up late more than three (3) times in a 30-day period then a 60-day probationary period may be enforced. If the student is picked up late again within this probationary period the student will no longer be eligible to attend ASP for a set period of time, up to the remainder of the current school year, as determined by ASP and CCA staff.

Medical Emergencies/Medications: For the safety of the student, 911 may be called before the parent/guardian in an emergency situation. CCA employees, including ASP staff, may administer first aid or CPR to a student. Based on the situation, students may be treated and transported by first responders to a hospital or medical facility where medical staff will continue to provide emergency medical treatment. Parent/guardian acknowledge they are responsible for all medical expenses incurred. If your student needs to carry emergency rescue medication or devices (inhalers/Epi pens, etc.), please communicate this need with the ASP team prior to the first date of your student attending ASP. No medication will be provided by ASP staff or without the appropriate medication forms on file. The School Nurse is not on campus during ASP hours.

Notices and Important Information: It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to read all school communication, including the school calendar, and plan accordingly for dates/times when ASP is not in session, when pickup is in a different location, etc.

Parent/Guardian Behavior: We expect all parents/guardians to follow rules and act in an appropriate manner. This includes being respectful to ASP staff, families, and students. All policies must be followed. CCA maintains the right to discontinue a student's participation in ASP based on the behavior of their parent/guardian/authorized contact.

An authorized contact must report to the Cafeteria (or designated alternate pickup location) and speak with ASP staff to sign out a student. An original carline tag must be presented to the ASP staff in order for students to be released. A photocopy, photo, text, or verbal stating the carline number will not be accepted. Proper identification may be asked of the individual picking up the student at any time to confirm their authorized contact status. Once students are signed out, they must remain with the contact and immediately be escorted out of the building.

Refusal of Care: CCA reserves the right to discontinue or revoke participation by any student enrolled in the program at any time for any reason other than on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, veteran status, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or other characteristic protected by law.
